Knowing
Why
We have the privilege of learning from the great minds that preceded us. But learning is always a form of adjusting to the world. Perhaps the most valuable thing we can learn is that we have questions; questions and doubts; disappointments; disillusionments; despair. Because questions and doubts point us toward what we already know and have simply forgotten about the nature of who and what we are.
I’ve spent decades (who knows, maybe lifetimes) studying, looking for answers. I’ve concluded that ultimately, books are great road signs and interesting commentaries about someone else’s experiences, perceptions, and conclusions. But mine cannot, by definition, be found in someone else’s book.
